Emily Domayer testifies before the U.S. Senate hearing on bullying in schools on June 8, 2012, in Des Moines. Emily was born in Des Moines, grew up in Sioux City, and graduated from Sioux City North High School in 2006. She was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) at age 12. In 2005 she attended the Iowa's Youth Leadership Forum, a state-wide gathering of high school students with disabilities who have leadership potential. She has come back every year as a counselor. She considers herself to be an advocate for people with disabilities, particularly those on the autism spectrum. She has been playing violin since she was nine years old.
